The biennial Ho’omenemene (Compassion) Awards recognize individuals and organizations whose work over many years exemplifies what we can accomplish as interfaith advocates and active participants, and whose work promotes hope and healing to Hawai‘i communities.

The Honorees of the 2020 Ho’omenemene Awards were Rev. Dr. Gary C. Augustin and David C. Livingston; Honpa Hongwanji Hawai’i Betsuin, Na Mea Kupono Learning Center, and Xi Psi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

There were special performances by renown performer and Grammy nominee Henry Kapono, with entertainment by performer/composer Chaz Hill, accompanied by dancer Esther Izuo; Pueo Kane ~ Mark Campos, Lance Namuo, Byron Fonseca, and Alika Fonseca; and the talented Malu Productions.

Proceeds supported the Client Assistance Fund, which subsidizes counseling for those who are uninsured, underinsured, elderly, and low-income; as well as the Jolene Gerell Memorial Endowment Fund.

Special thanks to the volunteers, staff, and patrons of the historic Hawai’i Theatre in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
